Review: Fall of Night (Morganville # 14) by Rachel Caine

Claire never thought she’d leave Morganville, but when she gets accepted into the graduate program at MIT, she can’t pass up the opportunity. Saying good-bye to her friends is bittersweet, especially since things are still raw and unsettled between Claire and her boyfriend, Shane.

Her new life at MIT is scary and exciting, but Morganville is never really far from Claire’s mind. Enrolled in a special advanced study program with Professor Irene Anderson, a former Morganville native, Claire is able to work on her machine, which is designed to cancel the mental abilities of vampires.

But when she begins testing her machine on live subjects, things quickly spiral out of control, and Claire starts to wonder whether leaving Morganville was the last mistake she’ll ever make...

Review:

 ** spoiler alert **

I'm not sure how I feel about this book...

I don't know if it's because the setting isn't in Morganville, but I just wasn't feeling this one. You can tell the series is coming to an end because it seems like the story is very fragile and new ideas are hard to come by. I feel as though I read for a couple of hours and came out with nothing.

What really happened in the book of any importance?
In the first couple of chapters Shane is bitten by a hell hound, and he hints about it bothering him from time to time but nothing ever comes of it until the very end but you have to wait until the next book to find out. Apparently the humans have taken over Morganville... but again it comes in the last chapter.
Claire left Morganville to attend college, but she never goes to a single class. In the first half of the book the worst thing that happens is her roommates stalker, and then he dies trying to save her?! I mean, really?

There just wasn't much substance to this book and the more I think about it the more it aggravates me. As much as I LOVE and ADORE this series I think it's time for it to come to an end. When the authors run out of ideas and story starts to suffer it's time to put it down.

I would love opinions on this series!!

Review: Entwined with You (Crossfire # 3) by Sylvia Day

From the moment I first met Gideon Cross, I recognized something in him that I needed. Something I couldn’t resist. I saw the dangerous and damaged soul inside–so much like my own. I was drawn to it. I needed him as surely as I needed my heart to beat.

No one knows how much he risked for me. How much I’d been threatened, or just how dark and desperate the shadow of our pasts would become.

Entwined by our secrets, we tried to defy the odds. We made our own rules and surrendered completely to the exquisite power of possession…

Review:

Another really good book by Sylvia Day, my only problem with it is that I'm done and will have to wait a LONG time for the next one! SIGH

I liked this one better because they actually try working through their problems this time instead of just running away or acting childish. It was rather annoying in the first two books every time something would go wrong Eva would act as though she were 16 instead of her mid twenties.

Also, we see more into the mind of Gideon in this one, and some of his secrets and mystery are revealed. This was probably my favorite of the series so far. There is still quite a bit of action and drama, it just seems more like adult drama instead of teenage bs.

I can't wait for the next one!

“... I learn from my mistakes, and falling for you was by far the worst mistake I’ve ever made.”
Daniele Lanzarotta, Blood Bound

“He kissed and held her like it was the last time, but then again, he always did that, because there had always been that possibility of him losing her.”
Daniele Lanzarotta, Shattered Souls

“Bloodlust – the disease that makes us the monsters we are known to be; it is what wipes away the last of our humanity.”
Daniele Lanzarotta, Bloodlust

“...I could feel what was left of my soul just slipping away as I fed on that girl until she was totally and completely drained.”
Daniele Lanzarotta, Imprinted Souls

“What he didn’t know was how to beg for her forgiveness, and at that moment, her forgiveness was what he craved the most…even more than he craved her blood.”

Morganville as a Web TV series?

We've all been asking the same question for years, will Morganville ever be a TV show or Movie? Well, it may just happen, but maybe not in the way we though.

Rachel Caine has teamed up with Blake Calhoun to hopefully create a Web TV series with 10 minute episodes. The thing is, they need funding for the project. Their idea is that since the fans have been asking about it FOREVER, why not let them help. So they started a Kickstarter project to raise money, check it out here.

They need $75,000 by July 11, 2013.

There are even incentives for donating, as if seeing Morganville on the screen isn't enough... you will get certain goodies with each level of donation. Things such as Twitter shout outs, your name on the website, digital downloads, signed posters and dvds, digital scripts, your name in the credits, signed books, your own personal short story by Rachel, name a character, silent cameo spot, etc.

So my question to you is, would you donate money to see this amazing series brought to life?

Review: My Soul to Save (Soul Screamers # 2)

When Kaylee Cavanaugh screams, someone dies.

So when teen pop star Eden croaks onstage and Kaylee doesn’t wail, she knows something is dead wrong. She can’t cry for someone who has no soul.

The last thing Kaylee needs right now is to be skipping school, breaking her dad’s ironclad curfew and putting her too-hot-to-be-real boyfriend’s loyalty to the test. But starry-eyed teens are trading their souls: a flickering lifetime of fame and fortune in exchange for eternity in the Netherworld—a consequence they can’t possibly understand.

Kaylee can’t let that happen, even if trying to save their souls means putting her own at risk...

Review:

Another good book by Rachel Vincent. Just enough suspense and mystery to keep you interested, and the storyline is believable; I mean, I can see pop princesses selling their souls to get where they are!
There were a few moments when I wanted to tell them they were being stupid, but something else would distract me and I'd forget about it.
All in all it was a good book and I plan to read the next one to see what happens.
