Review: Hunter's Blood book One & Two
Welcome to the world of deviant vampires who can never get enough.
Vanessa is a tortured soul, or perhaps a tortured immortal. A girl who was turned at the age of 18 and is battling her growing hunger for blood and sexual gratification.
Vanessa dreams of 'Hunter', the boy who gave her this gift, or perhaps it is a curse.
We shall soon find out how hard it is to fight the needs of a vampire who is trying to pretend that humanity still lives in a heart that is no longer beating. This series is graphic in nature, 18+ adult read only with language, sexual situations and violence.
Review:
The story starts out really good, I love the historical fiction part! Then when we flash back to present day it's a little hard to follow at times. It's as if the character telling the story is ADD and can't stay on track. Lol The adult content is on point and spread throughout the story and there are a few twists that keep you interested.
I really like the idea of this storyline, it just needs more detail for me. I have downloaded the second to see what happens...
Being a vampire is still something Vanessa is not wanting to fully accept and the battle between her fleeting humanity and strong desires to feed and explore her sexual needs gets worse by the hour.
In this addiction we see her desperately trying to hold on and then the worst thing happens...love, or better yet, the need for it. This series is extremely graphic in nature and intended for 18+ readers.
Review:
The ideas for this storyline are really great, but personally I prefer a little more detail. It's somewhat hard to follow in places, and way too short for me, though I am enjoying the characters - I just wish we knew more about them. Perhaps we learn that in the following books... Guess I'll have to read on and find out.
Again, the adult content is spread throughout the book - a little more graphic this time - and as always there are a few twists that will strike your interest as well as some new characters that are intriguing.
I love Rue's crazy imagination and will continue to read her work!

Review: Sweet Savage Blood: Blood Ties, by Carolina Courtland
The Sweet Savage teen romance continues in Part III as Quentin and Madison explore their tempestuous, forbidden love. Caden's volatile vampire family arrives for a Turning Ceremony and promptly causes problems.
Dominique and Caden's bond is broken when she discovers he uses groupies for blood, and heartsick, she breaks up with him. Before he has a chance to win her back, she is involved in a car crash. While in a coma, she relives her past life when the two first met and fell in love. Upon awakening, she discovers Caden has been imprisoned for the crime of dating her, a mortal, and she risks her life to rescue him. After the daring rescue, Dominique realizes they are meant to be together now and forever.
Unbeknownst to them, someone wicked from Caden's past has been watching and waiting for the opportunity to destroy their blissful reunion.
Review:
This was the best one so far! It seems like all the action was saved just for this book.
As stated in my review of book one, I love historical romance, and in this book we finally relive some of the moments from Caden and Dominique's first life, as husband and wife. There was plenty of suspense, and page turning action; not to mention even more plot twists that you didn't see coming! Deadly accidents, surprising transformations, daring rescues and sexual tension all rolled up into one book.
I'm intrigued with the way this story will turn out, and was pleased to see that there will be more released this year!
I can't wait to read them.
Books by Rue Volley
This is one of my favorite series!
Enter into the world of
16 year-old Rue Volley...who, up until one fateful night, thought she
was "normal" or as "normal" as she could be.
But "normal" does not include being a vampire...a truth about herself that she will soon discover.
Rue Volley lives in the quiet little town of Calvary, Minnesota...nestled in the thick woods lining the Great Lakes. Rue, along with her brother Kai, have lived an otherwise calm life up until their Mother was committed into Rolling River Asylum, after she mysteriously stopped speaking to anyone. Rue is convinced by her brother to attend a party on her birthday, and after she experiences something that she cannot explain, she and everyone in her world is thrown into madness. Join Rue on this epic journey, 6 books in all, as she struggles with grief, love, humor, old crushes, new found infatuations, hot boys, AND vampires, lots and lots of them.
This first book in the series starts you on a journey that you will find hard to ignore and once you start reading you will be hooked...or perhaps bitten.

Alexi Carvelle is your typical teenage girl, dealing with school and a recent tragedy in her life. Follow her as she learns to deal with the loss of her Mother, navigates a new found love growing for her best friend (Logan Stewart) and suddenly gets thrust into a world of magic she did not know existed until a mysterious boy by the name of Kyle Huntington arrives in town throwing everything into chaos. This is the first book in this new series by paranormal author Rue Volley that skirts YA minus a tad bit of language and some situations that border adult in nature. Filled with new creatures, plenty of magic and lots of humor to overshadow the grief, this is a story that easily draws you in and keeps you wanting to know more.

Review: Sweet Savage Blood: Revelations by Carolina Courtland
The Sweet Savage teen romance continues as Dominique Castille and vampire Caden Hanover's passionate relationship heats up. Their bond is tested when Caden reveals his dark secret to her. Although she loves him, she struggles to accept him as a vampire. Dating a vampire wasn't part of her life plan.
Quentin's overwhelming desire for Madison causes him to take dangerous risks. He learns the hard way not to mess with a Slayer when Madison does something worse to him than staking. She turns him into her vampire pet. Now the gorgeous, cocky vampire must be at her beck and call—and she has plenty of things for him to do.
Review:
I love that it literally picks up where the first one ends - same conversation, and the chapters continue instead of beginning at 1. It's as if She took her book and just cut it apart to make 2. You don't feel like you've missed anything in the transition!
The story progresses slightly faster in this book, but there is still a bit of filler, and some unnecessary details. The plot twists continue to throw you for a loop, and I find myself giggling at the side character interactions and wishing there are more scenes with them. Sometimes I wish they were the main characters...
At first I was thinking, I've heard this story before; High School cheerleader is the vampire slayer... Helllloooo Buffy (love the mention of it in the first book too, nice touch) but the effects of her blood on Quentin was an awesome twist and I love the way their story is progressing.
I have already started book 3!
